The SDI Advanced Scuba Diver Development Program was created to make truly “Advanced Divers”. During the course your SDI Instructor will take you through four SDI specialties (deep, navigation, night, computer, etc. as examples) covering all the skills and subjects, so that by the end you will feel comfortable to conduct dives of a similar nature on your own. Once you have logged your 25th dive (these can include any and all training dives) visit The Dive Shop with your logbook and you will be presented with the SDI Advanced Scuba Diver certification. By earning the SDI Advanced Scuba Diver certification you will increase your abilities, comfort, and confidence in the water.
The Dive Shop offers advanced training in four core scuba techniques (night diving, underwater navigation, deep diving, and computer diving). Additional skills can be chosen by the student from many options including (additional fees apply):
Search and Recovery
Altitude and Boat Diving
Enriched-air diving – Nitrox
There are many other options – see your instructor for details.
The Dive Shop‘s price of $250 includes everything you need to get started perfecting your advanced skills; books equipment rentals, etc.
For the Advanced certification, you are required (at a minimum to have your own mask-fins-snorkel set, a signal device, and a dive slate). It is advisable (but not required) to have a finger reel and surface marker buoy (SMB) as well.
The Dive Shop will provide the signal device (AKA whistle); and if you need it we offer an internet student special for purchasing your own mask-fins-boots-snorkel combination at $25 below the in-store price. That special is fully explained and can be purchased at Scuba Equipment. The slate, finger reel, and SMB can be purchased in the store if you do not have one. The slate will be used during class as part of your navigation training.
Your only additional costs would be for transportation/food/lodging for the Open Water dives and any additional skills desired.
Register for an advanced class date that fits your schedule in the list below – then click the “Buy Now” button.
Class consists of two classroom sessions and six open water dives (scheduled during class) to complete the advanced instruction. We conduct Open Water dives at Blue Lake (near Wendover) and other locations by special arrangement with your instructor at The Dive Shop.
We feature certification by Scuba Diving International (SDI)/Technical Diving International (TDI), the largest technical certification agency in the world.
Prerequisites for completion of the SDI Advanced Scuba Diver Course are: Open Water Scuba Diver certification, completion of the four specialty area instruction and experience, and you have to have at least logged 25 total dives. Dives performed as part of the training apply to the total number of logged dives.
Liability and Medical Release Forms
All students are required to complete and sign our Liability Release and Medical forms prior to your first class. Parents or guardians will also be required to sign for students under the age of 18.
IMPORTANT: If the Medical Form has any “Yes” answers, then the third form (Physician’s Statement) should be printed and signed by your physician prior to any pool activities. Bring the signed Physician’s Statement to class.
If your physician does not have experience with scuba-related medicine, SDI has prepared a “Guidelines for Recreational Scuba Diver’s Physical Examination” to assist him/her in making a medical determination of suitability which you can share with your health care provider (Dr’s Guidelines below).
