Its time to be a Rescue Diver!

The Dive Shop can teach you to be the solution when less experienced divers find themselves overwhelmed by new situations. The Rescue Diver Course is perhaps the most interesting and rewarding class in all of the courses available to a Scuba diver.

The Dive Shop’s price of $350 includes everything you need to perfect your rescue skills; books equipment rentals, etc.

As a prerequisite to complete your rescue skills, you will also be required to have CPR, 1st Aid, and Oxygen Administration certifications. These classes are  provided at The Dive Shop as a part of the Rescue Diver class (additional costs apply). You will also be responsible for transportation/food/lodging at the Open Water dives.

We conduct Rescue Open Water dives at Blue Lake (near Wendover) on dates arranged in class at the convenience of the instructor and students.

We feature certification by Scuba Diving International (SDI)/Technical Diving International (TDI), the largest technical certification agency in the world.

The SDI Rescue Diver Course is designed to develop your knowledge and necessary skills to effectively perform diver rescues and assist and administer necessary first aid. You will learn skills such as how to perform self rescues, buddy rescues, recognize and calm potential panic divers, administer proper first aid to divers that have experienced dive related injuries, conduct effective search patterns and manage accident scenes.

Prerequisites for completion of the SDI Rescue Diver Course are: Open Water Scuba Diver certification, Advanced Scuba Diver certification, have current 1st aid, CPR, and Emergency Oxygen Administration instruction cards, and you have to have at least logged 40 total dives. Dives performed as part of the training apply to the total number of logged dives.

Upon successful completion of the SDI Rescue Diver Course, you are qualified to conduct search and recovery operations, rescues for divers in distress, and to enroll in the SDI Divemaster Course.

Liability and Medical Release Forms

All students are required to complete and sign our Liability Release and Medical forms prior to your first class. Parents or guardians will also be required to sign for students under the age of 18.

IMPORTANT: If the Medical Form has any “Yes” answers, then the third form (Physician’s Statement) should be printed and signed by your physician prior to any pool activities. Bring the signed Physician’s Statement to class.

If your physician does not have experience with scuba-related medicine, SDI has prepared a “Guidelines for Recreational Scuba Diver’s Physical Examination” to assist him/her in making a medical determination of suitability which you can share with your health care provider (Dr’s Guidelines below).
